NetEase is once again expanding, with a new Los Angeles-based studio, BulletFarm. The remote-first AAA studio is led by David Vonderhaar, who is most known for his work on the Call of Duty franchise.
The team’s first project will be based on an original IP, be built in Unreal Engine 5, and emphasize co-op gameplay.
Vonderhaar says that the new studio is an opportunity to do something different from the games he has worked on and is known for. “This is a departure from the games I’ve worked on, but one that showcases my passion for rich characters, precise mechanics, more intimate storytelling, and plenty of action,” he says.
There’s no denying it’s a pretty tough time in the games industry right now, but with a new studio often come some new roles. The team is hiring for their new project, and with a remote approach, should be open to qualified devs from a variety of locations. Find out more about BulletFarm on its official site.
