Weak Seasonal Demand Hits Nand Flash Products
According to TrendForce’s latest findings, the Nand flash market is experiencing some turbulence in the second half of 2024. Weaker-than-expected seasonal demand has taken its toll on wafer contract prices, which are predicted to decline in Q3. A natural progression of this trend points toward Q4, where a more substantial drop—exceeding 10%—is anticipated. If you thought last quarter was rocky, hold onto your SSDs!
Enterprise SSDs: The Silver Lining
Amidst the general downturn, enterprise SSDs are the only segment likely to bask in the glow of modest price growth. With stable order momentum keeping them afloat, contract prices for these products are forecasted to rise between 0-5% in Q4. So, while the Nand flash market might feel like a sinking ship, enterprise SSDs seem to have found a life raft.
A Cautious Approach from Buyers
However, it’s not all smooth sailing across the board. Buyers, guided by the less-than-stellar sales of related end products, are pivoting toward more cautious procurement strategies for PC SSDs and UFS. With overall Nand flash contract prices predicted to decline by 3-8% in Q4, a conservative approach makes a lot of sense. The market may not be in dire straits, but a little caution never hurts, especially when navigating these volatile waters.
