Introduction to New Releases at Gamescom
Among numerous exciting releases at Gamescom, ASUS has spotlighted several upcoming peripheral releases, notably the ROG Harpe Ace Mini and the Harpe Ace Extreme. The latter had already been announced previously, but new details continue to emerge, hinting at a launch soon.
Mass Production Units and Imminent Release
Interestingly, the mouse demonstration units showcased at the event were not pre-production units but mass production ones, underscoring an impending release for both the ROG Harpe Ace Mini and the Harpe Ace Extreme. While no exact release date has been announced, they are expected to hit the shelves within the next few weeks.
Shared Specifications and Internals
Both ROG Harpe Ace Mini and Harpe Ace Extreme share their basic specifications and internals. Much like on the ROG Keris II Ace, ASUS’s latest AimPoint Pro sensor capable of 42,000 CPI is utilized, along with ROG optical main button switches. According to ASUS, optical switches will continue to be preferred over push-fit mechanical switch sockets in their enthusiast mouse releases to save weight.
Performance and Polling Rates
Through the ROG Polling Rate Booster, the mice can achieve polling rates of up to 8000 Hz in wired operation, and up to 4000 Hz in wireless operation. Since the firmware is shared across all models, the performance of the ROG Harpe Ace Mini and the Harpe Ace Extreme will closely match the Keris II Ace when using the Polling Rate Booster.
Future of Armoury Crate
For those generally interested in ASUS mice but concerned about having to use Armoury Crate software, there is good news. By the end of 2024, Armoury Crate will be reworked to become modular. Users will be able to install only the desired parts, reducing installation size and RAM footprint. Essentially, it will be possible to tailor the Armoury Crate to one’s specific needs.
