Introduction to AMD’s New Graphics Cards
AMD has recently made waves with the introduction of its first wave of RDNA 4 graphics cards, namely the Radeon RX 9070 XT and RX 9070 models, which are set to hit retail stores next week, on March 6. While the spotlight shines on higher-end options, there have been hints about lower-end alternatives that emerged during CES 2025, although these did not attract much attention.
Teasers of the Radeon RX 9060 Series
Reports from China’s tech press have unveiled AMD’s plans concerning the Radeon RX 9060 series. Speculation began earlier this year when TechPowerUp listed a potential Radeon RX 9060 XT 12 GB model. Recently, updates have suggested that a new addition to AMD’s lineup, dubbed the ‘Navi 48 LE’ GPU, might be in the works. This announcement was made during a recent in-person event in China, contrasting the virtual presentations held for Western audiences.
Market Positioning and Specifications
During the presentation, details about the intended launch window for the Radeon RX 9060 series were shared, pointing to a second quarter 2025 release. AMD aims to target the mid-range market, focusing on providing competitive cost-effectiveness. The goal is to deliver high-performance yet low-power solutions catering to both 1080p and 1440p gamers. Insiders speculate that these cards will feature reduced computing units and a total of 8 GB of GDDR6 VRAM. Expected thermal design power (TDP) for the Radeon RX 9060 series is anticipated to fall between 150 W and 200 W, with pricing likely to range from $349 to $449 USD.
