The latest development in the world of GPUs, AMD’s Radeon RX 8000 ‘RDNA 4’, has recently surfaced on Geekbench. This leak has unveiled some intriguing details about the upcoming graphic card, hinting at an imminent launch next year. The appearance of this new GPU, identified as ‘gfx1201’, showcases AMD’s internal testing phases.

Core Specifications and Comparisons

The leaked Radeon RX 8000 ‘RDNA 4’ GPU appears to be the Navi 48 SKU, one of the two planned dies for the RDNA 4 family. As seen in the Geekbench listings, it features 28 compute units, which in this context, translate to work group processors (WGps). This suggests a total of 56 compute units, positioning it between the current RX 7700 XT (54 CU) and RX 7800 XT (60 CU) models. The clock speed is listed at 2.1 GHz, which is relatively low compared to the current RDNA 3 GPUs that can boost up to 2.5-2.6 GHz. Nevertheless, this is expected to improve as the product nears its launch.

Memory and Performance Aspects

The Radeon RX 8000 ‘RDNA 4’ GPU is seen with 16 GB of VRAM, aligning it with high-end current models and suggesting a 256-bit bus interface. There may be variants featuring 12 GB of VRAM with a 192-bit bus. Previous reports indicate that AMD will likely use GDDR6 memory.
