AMD’s Spectacular Performance

This Black Friday has proven to be a milestone for AMD, as the company reigned supreme in motherboard sales. With an astonishing 87.36% of unit sales and 86.5% of revenue share, AMD outperformed its competitors, particularly in Germany where an impressive 3,800 AMD-socketed motherboards were sold. In contrast, Intel only managed to shift 550 units, highlighting AMD’s growing popularity among consumers.

The Rise of the AM5 Socket Platform

A noteworthy highlight in this year’s shopping event is the adoption of AMD’s latest AM5 socket platform. Sales figures indicate that nearly 72% of AMD’s total sales, which amounts to 2,730 units, came from this new architecture. This strong performance suggests that consumers increasingly favor AMD’s cutting-edge technology despite potential higher costs associated with newer generation platforms. Meanwhile, older AM4 sockets also maintained relevance, selling 1,070 units.

Intel’s Struggles in the Market

While AMD flourished, Intel’s sales were modest, with the LGA 1700 socket leading the charge at 490 units sold. The newer LGA 1851 and older LGA 1200 sockets barely made an impact, with only 40 and 20 units sold, respectively. An analysis of average selling prices (ASP) shows that Intel had a slight edge at $183 compared to AMD’s $170. However, AMD’s far superior sales volume culminated in a total revenue of $644,584 against Intel’s $100,564, illustrating how AMD’s strategic offering of value remains unmatched this season.
