Things You Need to Do Before Destiny 2

Many Destiny 2 players like myself will probably take a break before The Final Shape drops due to the expansion being delayed by several months. Most of us are close to completing all of the seasonal content and it’s a great time to prepare for The Final Shape before potentially taking a break.

Time to Clean Up the Junk
We all know how much Destiny 2 players love to hoard items in the vault. From extra copies of Exotic armor to seven different rolls of a weapon you will probably not use, most players have plenty of items that will never be used and you should get rid of them. With how frequently we get new gear, holding on to that 17th copy of Igneous Hammer is not doing you any favors.

One copy of every exotic
Your favorite/most-used Legendary weapons from each archetype
Keep extra god roll armor only if you have multiple loadouts
Remove all cosmetics. They can be pulled from the Collection tab
If you have a bunch of exotic weapons that you do not use, it’s a good idea to remove them as well as you can always pull them from the Collection tab.

Chase Exotic Items

If you are a relatively new player, you may have a few exotics that you do not own. This is the perfect time to farm resources and other gear you might not have. If you do not have all the items from the Monument of Lost Light, it’s also a great time to unlock those. Exotic armor can also be farmed from Lost Sectors if you are missing any of them.

Farm Exotic Catalysts
Bungie is constantly adding new exotic catalysts for weapons. Some of these catalysts are complete game-changers for weapons that are considered weak or they add a ton of quality-of-life improvements to already powerful weapons. Catalysts for weapons like the Gjallahorn and Arbalest are extremely powerful and you should obtain them before the new expansion drops if you want to be raid-ready.

Unlock All Subclasses
Veterans have all subclasses and aspects unlocked but if you are new, you might be still working on unlocking all the aspects for some of the newer subclasses. A lot of them can be obtained via Ikora at the Tower but you may need to farm some Glimmer.

Obtain Artifice Armor
Artifice Armor is one of the biggest boosts you can get to your endgame gear. It makes stat tuning for your character a lot easier thanks to an extra slot that allows you to add 3 points to a chosen attribute. Having a 97/100 and a 91/100 on a certain stat has no difference. It is only when you hit the breakpoints of 10 where it matters and Artifice Armor can help you reach those breakpoints and fine-tune your build.

Complete Seasonal Content
Seasonal content for this year’s expansion will no longer be available once the new expansion drops. So if you have content that you have not cleared yet or Seasonal milestones that need your attention, you should complete them as soon as possible. While the Seasonal missions will no longer be available, in case you missed out on seasonal exotics you do not need to worry about them. They will still be available in case you want to obtain them later and want to take a break from the game.

Stock Up On Bounties
If you want to get a massive amount of XP at the start of the next season, you should hoard as many bounties as you can before logging off for the season. Do note that not all bounties will be available when The Final Shape drops as some content will be removed so you should focus on Strike, Crucible, Gambit, and Gunsmith bounties. They not only level up your season pass quickly but also contribute to your Artifact power which should help you get a quick bump in power.

Decide On A Day One Loadout
A great way to be efficient with your resources for a day-one raid is to prepare a loadout that you want to use. You should use the same armor and weapons during the campaign on Legendary difficulty and increase their power level. Expansions typically have a large power grind and using the right gear during the campaign ensures you have your gear leveled up on time.

Get Endgame Materials
If you are running low on Ascendant Shards, Enhancement Prisms, and Enhancement Cores, it’s time to farm some activities and stock up on some materials ahead of the new expansion. These resources take a lot of time to come by for newer players and you should try to have enough endgame materials ready for masterworking new gear that drops during The Final Shape’s content.

Obtain Weapon Patterns
You can unlock weapon patterns from the Weapons and Patterns tab and if you are missing some of the more powerful weapons, it’s a great time to obtain them and go after those god rolls. Some of the seasonal weapons will be harder to obtain once The Final Shape drops so this is the best time to grab any legendary weapon that you are interested in.

Remember to Take a Brea

The Final Shape is several months away and some of us have been playing since The Dark Below in 2014. The Light and Dark saga is finally coming to an end. The game is in a rocky state right now and some of us just want to see how the story ends. The game has been part of my life for almost a decade and I cannot wait to see how the story ends despite its flaws and blemishes.
